What is a cordless LED picture frame?
A cordless LED picture frame is a photo frame with built-in lights and a rechargeable battery, so your picture glows without a cable to the wall. You charge it, then put it wherever it looks best, rather than wherever the nearest outlet happens to be.
Lumi Frames Edge lights a real printed photo. LEDs along the edge of a clear acrylic panel send light across the panel and forward through the print, a design explained in our guide to edge-lit vs backlit frames. Because the light enters from the side, the whole frame is only about 0.6 in deep. Picking a size and a spot
Going cordless changes how you place a frame. Instead of starting from the outlet, start from where a little light would help: the corner of a dark shelf, the middle of a dining table, the dresser across the room.

Choosing a photo that glows
With an edge-lit frame, light passes through the print, so the picture itself decides how it looks when lit.
- Bright areas glow most. Skies, snow, beaches, white dresses and sunlit windows light up beautifully.
- Dark images glow least. A photo that is mostly shadow can look flat when lit from behind. It will still look fine with the light off, but it will not shine.
- Silhouettes work well. A figure against a sunset or a bright window gives strong contrast between glowing and dark areas.
- Black-and-white photos suit the cool white. Warm white can tint gray tones slightly yellow, while the cool 6000 K keeps them crisp.
- Older family photos suit the warm white. At 3000 K, the gentle tone flatters faded color prints and sepia.
If you are ordering a new print, look at the image full-screen on a computer first. A busy background that seems fine at thumbnail size can compete with the subject once it glows.
Getting the most from the battery
- Charge it before first use, then set the brightness where you like it.
- Use brightness to control runtime. Edge is rated for up to 10 hours at 50% brightness, so a lower setting stretches a charge further and full brightness shortens it.
- Let the timer handle the schedule. Six hours on each evening keeps the frame lit when people are around and off for the rest of the day, which also saves battery.
- Keep it away from heat. Lithium-ion batteries dislike high temperatures, so avoid sunny windowsills, radiators and parked cars.
- Top it up before a big evening, such as a party or a holiday dinner, using the included USB-C cable.
- Charge safely. Set the frame on a hard surface, stay nearby while it charges, and unplug it once it is full. Stop using the frame if the battery swells, smells odd or gets hot. Our guide to charging and using LED frames safely covers the details.

Is this a digital photo frame?
No. A digital frame is a screen that shows image files. Edge is a real printed photo lit evenly from behind, with no screen, Wi-Fi or app. See LED picture frame vs digital photo frame.
How long does the battery last?
Up to about 10 hours at half brightness, and longer on the timer. It recharges over USB-C.
Does it need a special print?
Regular photo prints work. Thinner prints and matte paper let more light through for a brighter glow.
How does the timer work?
Start the timer at the time of day you want the frame to light up. It glows for six hours, stays off for the next 18, and then repeats the same schedule each day.
Do I pick the shade of white when I order?
No. All three whites are built in: warm 3000 K, natural 4500 K and cool 6000 K. You can switch between them at any time, and dim each one to suit the room.
Is a charger included?
No. Only a USB-C charging cable is in the box. Use a good-quality USB wall charger you already own, ideally one that carries a recognized safety mark.
