About this setup
What the reveal gap is for
An LED floating frame for canvas never overlaps the artwork. The canvas sits inside the frame with a narrow band of open space around all four edges, and nothing touches the painted surface. That band is the reveal.
It matters more for canvas than for anything else you might hang. A stretched canvas is finished on its sides: a painter carries color around the bars, or a print wraps around them. A conventional frame with a lip covers exactly that part of the piece. The reveal leaves it visible.
A floater frame with LED lights adds a second job to that gap. The light line runs along the face of the profile and the reveal stays dark behind it, so the canvas reads as though it is standing slightly off the wall inside its own lit border. In the black finish the effect is strongest, because the shadow in the gap and the frame profile are the same color.
Sizes, and the one to order
Ready-made stretched canvases cluster on a short list of sizes. These four cover most walls.

Match the frame size to the canvas size. Do not size up to leave yourself room. A floater already has the gap built into it, and an extra two inches of space turns a deliberate reveal into an obvious mismatch.
Measure the canvas rather than trusting the label on the back. Run a tape across the front at the top, then again at the bottom. Stretcher bars move as the fabric pulls on them, and a canvas that reads 16 in at one end and a quarter inch more at the other is worth knowing about now. Check the depth first
This is the number people skip, and it is the one that decides whether the frame works at all.

The Neon frame profile is about 1.25 in deep. A 0.75 in canvas sits comfortably inside that. A 1.5 in gallery wrap is deeper than the frame itself. The back of the canvas stands proud of the frame back, the piece hangs further off the wall, and the reveal looks different from the side than it does head on.
So measure the side of your canvas, not the box it arrived in. Hold a ruler against the edge and read from the front of the fabric to the back of the bar. Plenty of canvases sold as deep profile land between the two figures above. If you are at or near 1.5 in, send us the measurement before you order rather than after.
Setting the light line so it does not fight the painting
The light on this frame is a border, not a spotlight. It runs along the face of the profile, around the piece, so what it changes most is the edge of the canvas and the wall immediately behind it. Room light and any picture light you already own are still doing the work on the paint itself. That still leaves a decision to make, because a border of light has a color and a painting has a palette. Two things on this frame matter. The white runs from a candle-warm 1000 K to a cold 10,000 K, with dedicated warm and cool white alongside the full-color modes. And color rendering is CRI 92+, a measure of how completely a light source covers the visible spectrum, which is worth having in anything glowing near artwork.
Where to start:
- Oils, acrylics and warm grounds: around 3000 K, so the border stays the same temperature as the picture.
- Photographic prints on canvas and cool palettes: around 4000 K.
- Work that should read as daylight: 5000 K and above, though it can feel clinical in a living room.
Leave the moving scenes off for a painting. A gradient chasing around the border pulls the eye to the frame, which is the opposite of what a floater is for. Hanging it and living with it
Over furniture, leave six to ten inches between the top of a sofa back and the bottom of the frame. Closer and the two read as one block. Much further and the canvas drifts away from the room it belongs to.
A wall-mount kit is in the box, or the frame can lean on a shelf or mantel, which is worth considering for a canvas you expect to swap out. Power is a low-voltage 24 V adapter into a wall outlet, with an in-line control box on the cable, so choose the spot with the outlet in mind. Keep the frame off a wall that takes direct afternoon sun, and away from a radiator. Then dim it. A canvas lit at full brightness in a small room is working harder than the room asks it to.
Questions
Will a gallery-wrapped canvas with 1.5 in stretcher bars fit?
The frame profile is about 1.25 in deep, so a 1.5 in bar is deeper than the frame itself and the back of the canvas will stand proud of the frame back. A standard 0.75 in bar sits well inside that depth. Measure the side of your canvas before ordering, and if you are anywhere near the limit, send us the number on the contact page first.
Does the clear panel come out for a canvas?
Yes. The center panel is clear and removable, and it is there for prints and photos that need a flat front. A stretched canvas already has its own rigid support, so the panel is not doing anything for it. Tell us what you are framing when you order and we will confirm how your piece is held.
Will the light change how the colors look?
The frame gives you a border of light, not a spotlight aimed at the paint, so the room is still doing most of the work on the picture surface. The line itself renders at CRI 92+ and the white is tunable rather than fixed, which is what stops it throwing a colored cast across the wall and the canvas edge. Is it safe to light a painting every evening?
LEDs give off almost no ultraviolet and very little heat, which reduces the two things that do most of the damage. Paint and varnish still age under any light, so dim it for everyday use and keep the wall out of direct afternoon sun. Do LED lights fade art has the detail.
Can I use it with a diamond painting?
Only if the piece is already rigid. Diamond paintings are usually sold as a flexible canvas sheet, so they need stretching over bars or gluing to a board before framing; loose fabric sags behind a floater. Once it is rigid, a lit border around all that faceted resin is the whole reason to frame one this way. Ask us before ordering so we can check your mounting.

No. It runs on a low-voltage 24 V adapter that plugs into a wall outlet, with an in-line control box on the cable. Plan the position around an outlet, or run the cable in a cord channel.
