Light up picture frame or LED picture frame: what to call it
They are the same thing. A light up picture frame, an LED picture frame, an illuminated frame and a lighted photo frame all describe a frame with the light built into it, rather than a lamp pointed at it from somewhere else.
The distinction that does matter is where the light sits, because it changes what you end up looking at. That is the reason there are six frames here rather than one.

What to check before buying an LED picture frame
Six things decide whether a lit frame is a pleasure or an annoyance on the wall.
- Where the light points. At the picture, through it, or at the wall behind it. This is the whole decision, and it is the one most listings leave vague.
- Power. A cord means a socket and a route for the cable; a battery means recharging it. Only the cordless Edge frame runs without an outlet. If you are plugging in, read how to hide the cord first.

What is the difference between a light up picture frame and a digital photo frame?

What is an LED picture frame?
A picture frame with the light built into it, rather than a lamp pointed at it. The LEDs sit behind the print, around the edge of the panel, in the frame face or behind the frame facing the wall — which one you want depends on whether you want the picture lit or the wall lit.
Is an LED picture frame the same as a light up picture frame?
Yes. Shops use both names, along with illuminated frame and lighted photo frame, for the same thing: a frame that lights the picture itself.
Do LED picture frames use much electricity?
